8 people arrested for bringing illegal pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, fined millions

Saudi police arrested 8 people and imposed a fine of 280 thousand Syrians for taking illegal pilgrims to Saudi Arabia in Hajj 2024.

Saudi police have ordered the payment of a fine of 10,000 Saudi Riyals to all pilgrims who illegally transport the suspects, including three foreigners and five citizens. This makes a total of 280,000 Saudi Riyals.

Penalties for violating Hajj guidelines were implemented from June 2 and will continue until June 20. According to reports, 28 pilgrims were brought to Saudi Arabia without Hajj permits.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has said in a social media post on X that he will be jailed for 15 days and his vehicles will also be confiscated.

By law, foreigners carrying pilgrims to their home countries will be deported to their home countries and barred from re-entering Saudi Arabia for a certain period.

Meanwhile, in another social media post, the authorities said that four people, including two residents and two citizens, have been arrested for promoting fake Hajj permits and visas on social media websites.

SIM cards, stamps, mobile phones, computers and cash were recovered from the possession of the criminals.

In Saudi Arabia, fines for violating Hajj rules and regulations have started from June 2 and will continue until June 20.

According to the new Hajj rules, a person caught transporting Hajj pilgrims without permission will be imprisoned for up to 6 months and fined up to 50,000 Saudis or 49,000 dirhams.

Meanwhile, authorities will impose a fine of 10,000 Saudi Riyals on citizens, residents and pilgrims who perform Hajj without permission.

Authorities have urged all citizens and residents to strictly follow Hajj rules to ensure a safe, secure and comfortable Hajj.
