A bus crashed on the motorway in Berlin, Germany, resulting in the death of 5 people.

According to the details, a bus from Berlin, Germany to Zurich, Switzerland slid off the A9 motorway, and as a result several people were injured.

Police in the state of Saxony said on social media platform X that several people were injured in the incident on the A9 motorway near Leipzig at 9:45am on Wednesday.

The A9 is a major north-south motorway connecting the German capital Munich. It was closed in both directions after the accident.

It was not immediately clear why the bus, operated by Flexbus and traveling to Zurich, disappeared from the road. Rescue helicopters and ambulances are at the scene of the accident.

According to the German press agency DPA, there were 53 passengers and two drivers on the Flux bus.

The company says it is working closely with local authorities and rescue services and will do everything possible to clear up the cause of the accident quickly.

The emergency department at Deaconess Hospital in Leipzig has been alerted and operating theaters and diagnostic rooms are being prepared and put on hand, a spokesman said.
