As the election of the Congress president approaches, there is a growing demand within the party itself to make Rahul Gandhi the president again. In the same vein, several state Congress committees also passed resolutions in support of Rahul Gandhi on Monday. After Rajasthan, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh, Congress parties in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Jammu Kashmir and Bihar, Rahul Gandhi decided to take the reins of the party again. Several state Congress committees on Tuesday passed a resolution, while the state units of the Congress passed a resolution to empower the next Congress president to appoint new state presidents and delegates to the All India Congress Committee. Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh have decided to make Rahul Gandhi their president. Notably, Rahul is proposing not to change his stance of not being the head of the All India Congress Committee (AICC). The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) also passed a resolution to make Rahul Gandhi the party president and empowered the Congress president to appoint state leaders and AICC delegates. The congressional committee passed two such resolutions.

The former Congress president said earlier this month that he had made up his mind but did not reveal his plans despite approaching Rahul to take over as party chief. According to him, if he does not fight for the presidency of the party in the next elections, he will also tell the reasons for this. Rahul’s comments are an indication in the party that Rahul does not want to contest for the post of party president.
