Satyendar Jain gets relief from Delhi court on request for adequate food in rah mgb jail GTN News

Jailed Delhi minister Satyendar Jain on Wednesday got relief from a Delhi court on his plea for adequate food in jail. In its order, the court directed the Tihar jail administration to provide food to Jain if he observes apawas (religious fast). This matter is pending. The court also asked the jail authorities to file a reply as to what food was provided to the Aam Aadmi Party leader in the last six months and whether religious fasts were observed during the said period.

In his order, the judge indicates that the Tihar jail administration must file a reply by 2 pm tomorrow, November 24. The applicant’s medical report must also be submitted. Satyendra Kumar Jain provides details under Act 313 of Delhi Jail Rules 2018. At present the reasons for not doing the MRIs, weight, MRI are the disease that the accused Jain is suffering from and he is being treated till 28 of November at 2:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, Jain claimed in the court that he is not getting any facility in jail. The AAP leader said that they are also being deprived of facilities like proper medical check-up and food that they are supposed to get. He had asked for food in prison according to his religious beliefs. In their petition, the Jains claimed that they were not allowed to visit Jain temples and were on a fast and were not cooking food, pulses, grains and milk products. The petition added that withholding food and drink during religious fasting is illegal, arbitrary and tantamount to harassment.
