Somali pirates released a seized Bangladesh-flagged cargo ship with 23 crew members after accepting a $5 million ransom.

5 million dollars of ransom money was dropped in 3 sacks from the plane to the cargo ship.

After being released, the cargo ship MV Abdullah has left for its destination under the supervision of 2 ships from the European Union.

Somali pirates have assured that they will not attack the ship again until it reaches the port of Dubai.

In March, a ship on its way from Mozambique to the United Arab Emirates was hijacked by Somali pirates.

The CEO of the shipping company negotiated for the release of the cargo ship and crew.

He said that pictures had been provided of the crew all safe and after paying the ransom, about 65 pirates boarded nine boats and left the ship on Sunday morning.
