A 6.5 magnitude earthquake shook the island of Japan.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a magnitude 6.5 earthquake was felt in Japan’s Bunin Islands.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was at a depth of 503.2 km (312.7 miles) below the Earth’s surface.

The US National Tsunami Warning Center has said that, based on available data, no tsunami warning has been issued due to the earthquake.
