the International Monetary Fund (IMF). A delegation of the support team arrived in Pakistan in connection with the long-term loan and the budget for the financial year 2024-25.
According to sources, the IMF delegation has arrived in Pakistan during the first phase of negotiations on the long-term loan programme. The IMF-led mission is likely to reach Pakistan on the evening of May 16.
Some members of the IMF mission arrived in Pakistan for Pakistan talks. The IMF delegation will discuss the loan with Pakistan’s economic team.
The budget for the upcoming financial year 2024-25 is likely to be presented in the first week of June
Sources say the IMF team will collect data from various departments while the mission members will also work on the 2024-25 budget in collaboration with Finance Ministry officials.
Pakistan has started negotiations with the IMF for a new 4-year program after which it is expected to receive 8 billion dollars. In this regard, the International Monetary Organization mission will stay in Pakistan for more than 10 days.
On the other hand, the IMF has demanded that Pakistan impose an additional tax of 1300 billion rupees in the upcoming budget.
