Famous Bollywood film producer Bani Kapoor remembers her youth when she lived in the servant quarters of yesteryear actor, director and producer Raj Kapoor.
In an interview with the Indian media, Boney Kapoor, the late Sridevi’s husband, further said that his father Surendra Kapoor had left ten, twelve jobs and our family was in dire financial straits.
He said that the reason for the financial troubles was that the father used to fight for the workers and therefore he was dismissed from the jobs.
Talking about the ups and downs of her career leading up to becoming a film producer, Boney Kapoor said, “During this period of severe financial difficulties, my grandfather handed over my father and us to Prithviraj (Raj Kapoor’s father).
He said, “When our grandmother died, Anil Kapoor and I decided that she would act and we would work in production to generate income, because the house had to be run.”
The 68 year old senior producer said that our father was a heart patient and we didn’t want him to suffer from mental stress, besides he had debts, so we had a very difficult time.
