$1,400 IRS Stimulus Check: Find Out If You’re Getting Paid This Week!

Stimulus checks have been a crucial support for numerous families grappling with monthly financial obligations. The third and last EIP, dispensed in March 2021, was $1,400 per taxpayer. Some recipients failed to claim this amount during the 2022 tax season. Taxpayers have a three-year window to file for any unclaimed tax rebates or credits. This tax season marks the final opportunity to claim the $1,400 payment if it has not been received yet.

Is a $1,400 Stimulus Check Arriving This Week?

The IRS has stated that most individuals who missed claiming the $1,400 have since received it. However, approximately one million taxpayers did not file for the credit on their 2021 tax returns in 2022. The deadline to file your 2024 tax returns is April 15, 2025. To receive the refund, you need to have filed for the 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 tax seasons, regardless of your income level.

“Eligible taxpayers who did not file must file a tax return to claim a Recovery Rebate Credit, even if their income from a job, business, or other sources was minimal or non-existent,” the IRS advised.

The IRS recommends using the IRS Get My Payment tool to verify the steps needed to claim the $1,400 credit. Information on the status of your refund will be accessible online within 24 hours of filing your taxes. If you have filed your returns and are eligible, the rebate might be processed by the end of this period, barring any issues with your returns.

However, if you filed your taxes but overlooked claiming the $1,400, the IRS last year stated that these payments would be automatically issued to qualifying taxpayers. These payments were expected to have been delivered by the end of January this year. Only those who failed to file their 2021 taxes or did not claim are yet to receive this payment.

IRS Offers Assistance for Tax Filing

As the tax season deadline approaches, many who have yet to file their taxes may feel overwhelmed about where to start. The IRS provides complimentary resources on its website to help taxpayers understand the filing process. Typically, most individuals only need to submit a tax return. However, for freelancers or those with multiple income sources, tax filing can be more complex.

If you need to file your 2021 taxes to recover the unclaimed $1,400, the IRS offers free tax preparation services to individuals earning below $67,000, seniors over 65, those with disabilities, or limited English proficiency. First-time filers should be cautious of scams, especially during tax season, as fraudulent activities tend to increase when the IRS intensifies its communications.
