Bosnia and Herzegovina (commonly known as Bosnia) is an independent state in southeastern Europe bordering Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, and the Adriatic Sea, with Sarajevo as its capital. If you look at the topography, you will see that most of this area consists of green and stunning mountains and valleys.

Early history: History says that this region was settled by the people of the Illyrian tribes around 700 BC. The researchers write that the first battle between the Illerians and the Roman Empire for the acquisition of this area took place in BC, after which this series continued intermittently, and two major battles took place in the second century AD , and then the forces of the Roman Empire defeated the king. After becoming part of the empire, the Romans developed it. The settlement of the inhabitants of the Roman Empire laid the foundations of a new modern civilization in the region, previously uninhabited by tribes. In 333 AD, the king of the Roman Empire divided it into two parts (Byzantium and the Western Roman Empire) in order to better manage the affairs of the empire, so this region (Bosnia and Herzegovina) became part of the Western Roman Empire. . Later, several periods passed and the series of changes continued until a period came when politics led to a struggle for power, land and resources, and tug of war among the local people over governance ended with the incorporation of the region into the Caliphate. Ottoman.

The arrival of Islam: Islam arrived in Bosnia in the 15th century AD with the arrival of Muslim conquerors. Sultan Muhammad Fatih conquered Bosnia and this area became part of the Ottoman Caliphate, and thanks to the Muslim traders and soldiers who settled there, Islam was propagated and accepted. Later, in the 16th century, Sufis played a prominent role in the promotion and propagation of Islam, where the names of saints of different sects are mentioned.

Islamic Era: The positive policies of the Ottoman Caliphate strengthened Bosnia economically, defensively and politically. In the era of the Ottoman Caliphate, attention was paid to the lives of Muslims as well as people of other religions. Changes in the administrative, legal and political system played a significant role in the development of the region. Through Quranic injunctions and religious teachings of peace and brotherhood, attention was paid to bridging the gap between different schools, and in this respect the Mashaikhs and the Sufis played a key role.

Islamic Sites: Even today, Bosnia’s historical sites are full of Islamic culture and there are many mosques and mausoleums of elders. Examples of this are Ghazi Khosrow Beg Mosque, Sefid Mosque, Badshahi Mosque and Muhammad Pasha Mosque. Ghazi Khusrau was a hero of the Spanish War who later became the governor of the Bosnian state in 1521, and in his name the Ghazi Khusrau Beg Mosque was built in 1557.

The state of Bosnia and Herzegovina gained independence in 1992 following the breakup of Yugoslavia.
