LAHORE, (UrduPoint News / Pakistan Point – 8th May, 2024 ) Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique chaired a meeting to review progress on “Prime Minister’s Lahore Overhaul Plan” and public schemes recommended by the elected representatives, here on Wednesday.
Provincial Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Affairs Zeeshan Ahmed Malik, National and Provincial Assembly members elected from Lahore, former ticket holders, Commissioner Lahore, Deputy Commissioner, MD WASA took and heads of other relevant departments involved
During the meeting, the problems of the Constituencies of elected public representatives and their solutions were discussed in detail.
Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider briefed the meeting on the progress made so far on the “Lahore Overhaul Plan”.
Minister Zeeshan Rafique expressed his determination that the repair of dilapidated streets and drains of the city will be ensured within three months under the Lahore Overhaul Plan. “This comprehensive plan will cover 92 percent of Lahore’s population, after which a new face of the provincial capital will emerge”, he promised.
He directed the concerned departments to keep an eye on the arrival of the monsoon season while working on the development plans so that wastage of resources can be prevented as much as possible. He also expressed the hope that after the completion of this development package, no street or road in the city will remain unrepaired.
Zeeshan Rafique said that Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif wants to solve public problems in the entire province gradually and in this regard work is being started in every district.
Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman said that the grievances of all members of the assembly will be redressed immediately. “Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed full coordination of all the execution agencies concerned”, he informed. He further said that the Prime Minister has given a historic package to Lahore and the elected representatives are being taken into confidence in this regard. “All filtration plants will also be fully operational under the overhaul programme.”
The Punjab Finance Minister assured the assembly members that more funds will be provided in the budget of the coming financial year.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider said that the work of geo-mapping and getting details of necessary plans from all union councils has been completed. “The proposals of the members of the assembly will be considered in the renovation projects”, he assured.
The Assembly members and ticket holders expressed their gratitude to the Prime Minister for considering the suggestions of the elected representatives and said that they fully agree with the vision of CM Maryam Nawaz and would cooperate to realize it.
