An unexpected consequence of using Ozempic might be the resurgence of your former partner in your life.
A detailed survey conducted by ZipHealth, which involved 1,000 people on GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic and Mounjaro for conditions like type 2 diabetes and obesity, revealed a curious trend.
What did they discover? A notable number of these individuals received unexpected contacts from their exes. But should this really come as a surprise?
The study found that 20% of those using GLP-1 medications noticed attempts from past flames or old crushes to reconnect after seeing their physical transformations.
Additionally, a quarter of the single users of GLP-1 medications reported an uptick in matches and messages on dating platforms, and 10% have found themselves in new romantic engagements.
An Unexpected Side Effect: The Return of Toxic Exes with Ozempic
The direct link isn’t entirely clear. Considering that half of the GLP-1 medication users reported a boost in self-confidence following their physical changes, it could be that this newfound confidence is making them more proactive social participants; or perhaps, their enhanced self-assuredness is simply more appealing and compelling.
Alternatively, it might just be a reflection of superficial societal attitudes. Shrugs.
It’s important to note that there were some negative aspects regarding self-perception linked with these medications. For instance, nearly 60% of users felt compelled to sustain their weight loss due to fear of judgment or losing the newfound attention they were enjoying.
“GLP-1 medications have the potential to revolutionize users’ confidence, intimacy, and relationship experiences,” according to the article from ZipHealth. “Patients reported higher emotional connections, enhanced sexual satisfaction, and even opportunities for rekindled romances. However, these benefits come with their own set of challenges, including the pressure to maintain physical changes and altered dynamics in relationships.”
If you find yourself longing for a past relationship, don’t view this as a reason to start on Ozempic. However, if you are considering this medication for health purposes, be prepared: it might just make you irresistible to both former and future partners.
