Among them, unemployment and inflation have the potential to create headaches for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). According to The Hindu, the report states that respondents who consider ‘development’ as an issue are more likely to vote for the BJP.

Unemployment – which also emerged as a major issue in the state assembly elections – is intensifying over time and significantly affecting India’s youth population, according to a recent report by the International Labor Organisation. The report stated that the proportion of unemployed youth in the total unemployed population in 2022 was 82.9 percent.
The survey found that almost three in five (60 per cent) of respondents felt that it had become more difficult to find a job than in the last five years, highlighting current challenges in the job market. Only 12 percent said they found it easy to get a job.
The report said that rural respondents talk more about unemployment and inflation.
Although ‘Vikas’ is a key issue for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 2 out of 10 voters believe that the country has not progressed in the last five years. The report said, ‘…a poll before the vote found that 32 per cent of voters believed that growth over the past five years had been ‘only for the rich’.’
Doubts were also felt about development initiatives.
