From Nowshera Son, Skiser (from Malik Zahid Farooq Awan): Forest fires have become alarmingly common in the forests of Jannat Nazir Wadi Son in the Khushab district, posing a serious threat to the natural beauty of Sabzpahar. Over the past month, there have been seven incidents of fires in the mountains across various areas, resulting in the destruction of valuable trees and wildlife habitats. If the scenic beauty of Son Valley is marred, it will not only impact the environment but also hinder the region’s potential for tourism and development.

The affected areas include Anga, Ugali, Chinna, O Chali, Mardwal, Kordhi, Sodhi, Dha Kah, and others within the three hill ranges of Son Valley. These areas have witnessed a total of 17 cases of forest fires in the past month alone. As a consequence, countless trees worth millions of rupees have been reduced to ashes.

It is disheartening that the causes of these forest fires remain unknown despite occurring for many years. Residents of Son Valley are deeply concerned about the recurring incidents, fearing the irreversible destruction of their forests. We urge the Provincial Government, Commissioner Sargodha, DC Khushab, and officials from the Forest Department to take immediate notice of the situation and launch a high-level investigation. It is crucial to identify the root causes of these fires and implement preventive measures to safeguard our forests from future devastation.
