Imagine discovering that someone has created or bought a life-sized cardboard replica of you without your consent…
This is the bizarre situation that a New Yorker and social media personality is facing.
Kelsey Kotzur, a 31-year-old from Brooklyn, shared with her TikTok audience that unauthorized cardboard cutouts of her are being sold on platforms like Etsy, Amazon, and Walmart.

“Who is responsible for this?” she queried in her video post.
Kotzur revealed that the cutouts were made using photos from her social media accounts. There’s a particularly life-like one available on Celebrity Cutouts, listed for nearly $80.
“Prepare to bring the sparkle and excitement of Hollywood into your living room,” the website boasts. “Our vast selection offers more celebrities than you can find on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!”
It appears that influencers are now among the mix of celebrities.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I expect this when I started posting videos online,” Kotzur expressed in her TikTok.
In an attempt to make light of the unusual situation, some of her family members bought the cutouts to playfully tease her. Yet, when reflecting on the implications, she admitted the whole scenario was quite unsettling.
“I can’t decide if I should be flattered or completely freaked out,” she commented on her post, half-jokingly adding that she wished she received royalties from the sales.
Her audience voiced their concerns about the bizarre merchandise.
“This is funny but also really strange and creepy,” one viewer commented.
“It’s the duality of the internet,” another noted.
A curious follower questioned: “Not to sound rude, but why would anyone buy these? (Besides your family members).” Kotzur responded, “Exactly my thoughts, because I have no clue lol.”
Another TikTok user suggested a savvy business move: “At this point, you might as well make and sell your own versions. At least then you can pick the outfit and pose.”
